Training the Tongue Book Cover Design

Emmaus Road Publishing is the publishing arm of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, founded by Dr. Scott Hahn, producing Catholic books and faith-formation resources rooted in Scripture and tradition.

They approached me to design the cover for Fr. Gregory Pine, O.P.’s Training the Tongue: Growing Beyond Sins of Speech. With a target audience of younger millennials and Gen Z, the project called for an energizing, contemporary visual approach. The author requested a crisp, minimalist design anchored by bold, vibrant typography. We explored visual concepts around speech, communication, and restraint—ranging from abstract symbolism to modern communication devices—before landing on a solution that felt both fresh and theologically grounded.
