Catechism of the Catholic Church, Every Sacred Sunday Edition

The mission of Every Sacred Sunday is to invite each person into deeper relationship with Christ by creating spiritual resources inspired by the beauty of the Catholic Church.

The design process for the cover of The Catechism of the Catholic Church, Every Sacred Sunday Edition began with a series of strategic conversations exploring various visual directions—Vatican imagery, symbolic icons, holy doors, and church architecture. The goal of each concept was to embody the qualities the founders of Every Sacred Sunday wanted the cover to convey: peace, reverence, awe, wonder, and elegance.

Ultimately, we chose to focus on sacred architecture, specifically a rose window—a symbolic cornerstone of the Church’s physical beauty and spiritual depth. Just as church architecture is built upon strong foundations, the Catechism presents the foundational truths of the spiritual life. The rose window became our central motif: a vessel for light, much like the human soul illuminated by the light of Christ. It also serves as a threshold—inviting the reader to peer through, to glimpse, and ultimately to enter into the intellectual and spiritual richness within the pages of the book.

Visually, the design plays with scale and abstraction, encouraging a slower, more contemplative engagement. At first glance, the imagery is not immediately obvious—mirroring how the truths of the faith often unfold over time. Embossing techniques further enhance the tactile experience, allowing the cover to be not just seen, but felt—an elegant, interactive invitation to encounter the beauty of the Church’s teaching.
